An Intimate Encounter with a Top Lawyer

Xia Chenxi, a student at Jingxi University, watched her life collapse on Lunar New Year’s Eve. Her father was struck by a Porsche and left in a vegetative state. The driver was Zhang Zikai, the only son of a jewelry magnate. What seemed like an ordinary traffic accident concealed a shocking conspiracy involving drug-impaired driving, tampered brakes, and more. Determined to seek justice with hard evidence in hand, she came up against Ji Hanyu, a legend in the legal world: an Oxford law PhD and a cold, merciless lawyer who had never lost a case.

In court, he pinpointed loopholes in the drug test and dismantled the charge of intentional murder by exposing the disappearance of a witness. Outside court, he rescued her on a stormy night when she was nearly hit by a car, then bared his fangs at her pursuer outside a bar.

She was the most stubborn plaintiff on his defense docket, and the first person in his twenty-eight years to make his heart lose control. As the spoiled heir was about to walk free, the star lawyer tore apart the seemingly perfect chain of evidence with his own hands. “This time, I’ll defend your justice.”
