Lin Ye is a restorer of ancient texts. A “Handbook for Suppressing Evil” left behind by his grandfather draws him into a century-spanning conspiracy known as the “Nine Domains' Fiend-Nurturing Scheme.” To resurrect an ancient evil god, the late-Qing occultist organization the Xuan Yin Society set up fiend-nurturing arrays at nine sites across the country, each steeped in folk taboos and corresponding to a different terrifying supernatural manifestation. Only by collecting all nine “Evil-Suppressing Relics” can Lin Ye break the scheme.
