Mystery + metaphysics + science + sweet romance + love + not a power fantasy + no angst
Feng Yufeng is a Taoist detective skilled in metaphysics. By chance, he runs into Bao Song, an adorable, absent-minded math prodigy who carries a calculator. Together, they investigate missing cultural relics from the Jiangyuan, break an evil formation on Wuling Mountain, and fight for the Mystic Essence Pill in a false-reality space before taking on the ultimate threat of the Mystic Talisman Society. Every mystery is bound up with risking their lives for each other: he draws peachwood talismans to shield her from evil, while she calculates the odds to plot his escape route. They even work out the ideal time to eat mung bean popsicles before they melt.
From bickering partners to a wedding beneath an old locust tree, and then to sharing a smile as their baby cries in their arms, this irresistibly sweet duo combines metaphysics and mathematics. Through a series of mysteries, they write their promise for the rest of their lives: “I’ll search the heavens above for you, and guard you even in the depths below.”
