Genre: Sci-fi apocalypse + supernatural powers + zombies + team survival
Key selling points: An underdog’s rise to power, unlimited supernatural abilities, team-building, close female confidantes, survival against impossible odds, and a mix of mind games and combat.
Cause of the catastrophe: The “Lyra meteor shower” was no meteor shower at all. It was debris from a swarm of asteroids called the “Seeds of the World,” scattered by a higher-dimensional civilization known as the “Destroyers,” drifting toward Earth after impact. The fragments carried “Origin Radiation.”
Infection and evolution: Ninety percent of life on Earth couldn’t withstand the Origin Radiation. Their cells collapsed, turning them into “walking corpses” (zombies) driven by nothing but the instinct to devour. The other ten percent of living things, including plants and animals, endured and absorbed the radiation. Their cells reorganized and evolved, turning them into “New Humans” (the Awakened) or “Mutant Beasts.”
Social structure: After the catastrophe, governments collapsed. Survivors banded together in the ruins of cities, forming “survivor camps” and factions of various sizes. The strong preyed on the weak, order crumbled, and human nature was magnified to its darkest extremes.
In the depths of despair, the underdog Liu Feng gains the allegiance of his home planet’s core. His fierce will to survive and latent life force perfectly meet the conditions for bonding when his blood touches the core, which becomes deeply linked to his soul and genes.
Power progression system:
Energy sources: Absorbing energy cores. The main source is the “tainted cores” in zombies’ brains, but “beast cores” from Mutant Beasts and “superpower cores” left behind when other Awakened die can also be absorbed.
