The apocalypse has arrived, and the world is threatened by White Veilers and mutated creatures. Survivors struggle to stay alive in a shelter. During a patrol, Lin Ye, Su Xiao, and the others discover that a radio inside an abandoned signal tower is picking up a transmission from the “Northern Joint Base.” Not only is it a large safe zone capable of housing five thousand people, it also has abundant food, medicine, and weapons.
On one side is their current shelter, where supplies are dwindling and dangers lurk everywhere. On the other is a distant base full of unknown perils, yet promising hope. After much debate and deliberation, the fifty-six survivors decide to leave the shelter they know and embark on a journey that will take half a month. With the elderly and children in tow and crude weapons in hand, they support one another through the apocalyptic wilderness, heading for the coordinates 38°15′ north, 115°20′ east. All they seek is a chance to survive and a glimmer of hope for rebuilding their home.
