The peaceful life in Yucun is shattered by an anonymous package. A bronze fragment covered in strange patterns and a blurry old photograph pointing to Motuo, Tibet, drag Wu Xie and Wang Pangzi into another unfathomably deep mystery. The clues lead them deep into the Roof of the World, where they pursue a mysterious figure who looks very much like Zhang Qiling and enter the legendary “Mistbound Dragon Cavern,” shrouded in clouds and fraught with danger.
Yet they are not seeking treasure, but a horrifying truth capable of overturning the world. The ancient “Dragon Cavern” is no sacred site. It is a dangerous “leak point,” where a cold force from the abyss, capable of assimilating all things, is slowly awakening. The disaster caused by the ancients’ attempt to control immortality became a spreading “plague.” Only the guardians’ family and the “Menders,” the clan behind Zhang Qiling, managed to seal it away, at an enormous cost.
All sides collide in this forbidden land: the fanatical “Shadow Burners,” who pursue the “Primordial Power”; a mysterious organization carrying out cold-blooded “reclamation” missions; and a third party with technology far beyond imagination and motives impossible to fathom. Gunfire, explosions, the shrill cries of ancient energy, and the thunderous collapse of the earth’s veins intertwine as conviction and madness clash fiercely atop the snowy peaks.
Even after the underground behemoth is forcibly buried, the fragments hidden deep below continue to grow in silence. New coordinates emerge, pointing to a life-forbidden zone shrouded in electromagnetic fog. Wu Xie, Pangzi, and Hei Xiazi, this battered team, bear the lingering pain that has seeped into their bones and mysteries still unsolved. They have no choice but to set out once more, willingly entering an unknown region beyond the reach of even satellites.
The second time I read this book, when I was 20 years old, I saw the weirdness and horror between the lines. When I was in my 40s, I read it with compassion and sunshine!
Thrilling and beautiful
Looks good, I don't know what will happen next
