Creatures of the Rift

[Episodic tales + mythical beasts + monsters]

He is a fox spirit who has raised a human daughter. He meant to take her out to see the world, but they get caught up in a horrifying “skinning case.”

Qingyuan, a spirit creature from the Rift Realm, pursues her old rival, the red fox Li Cong, into the human world, only to find him roaming the martial world with a human girl named Shanzhi. Their seemingly carefree journey comes to an end in the prosperous city of Mingzhou. The warm and welcoming Zhao siblings have an unspeakable secret hidden at home, while the desperate scholar Qiu Yuanzhao’s plea for help points to the bizarre disappearances of several handsome men. When Li Cong follows the scent of blood and opens the door to the secret chamber in the Zhao family study, even a fox spirit is shaken by what he sees: a bloodied corpse stripped of its skin, mountains of bones, and a deranged monster obsessed with peeling the “beautiful skin” off its victims... The moment the monster sees Li Cong, it falls to its knees in a frenzy and begs, “Please, give me your skin...”
