I Became a Top Spy at Agent Headquarters 76

The protagonist, Zhang Xiaofan, is a man and a history PhD who stays up late writing his dissertation, “On the Contributions of the Underground Party to the War of Resistance.” Just as he is writing about their struggle against the 76th Division’s agents, he suddenly transmigrates to August 1939, into the body of an agent named Zhang Xiaofan at the 76th Division’s Wang Jingwei regime secret service headquarters. But though Zhang Xiaofan serves in Cao Cao’s camp, his heart is with the Han. Through careful maneuvering, he rises from weakness to strength and gradually becomes a six-sided ace spy with six identities: a 76th Division agent, an underground Party member, a Kuomintang operative, a Japanese Tokko intelligence officer, a spy at the American consulate, and a spy at the French consulate. He makes enormous contributions to the underground Party.
