Lin Ran grew up in an ordinary Trainer family. A young man who had left home, he carried the guilt of an ordinary Trainer who had failed to protect his partners when he was young, and vowed to pursue the legendary Moltres to prove himself. His quest to find Moltres leads him through a future world where resources are running dry, relations between humans and Pokemon are precarious, and the bond between people and Pokemon is increasingly fragile. Along the way, he must face Legendary Pokémon alongside a brilliant scholar and his rival, Fang Yu, while repeatedly encountering those who covet their power. He must also navigate the power struggles among the four major villainous leaders and the regional League. When a conspiracy surrounding energy crystals sweeps into their lives, the bonds with his partners, his rival’s secrets, and his complicated relationship with the research scholar Su Yao all push him toward the heart of the storm. From the moment he catches his first Charmander, every step of Lin Ran’s journey is full of twists, with danger and opportunity lurking in the shadows. When the crisis triggered by the energy crystals engulfs them, can Lin Ran overcome his inner fears and lead his partners to rekindle the fire of trust between humans and Pokemon? Yet when he finally breaks through the darkness and discovers Moltres’s whereabouts, he learns that the truth is far more cruel than he imagined. Friendship, trust, and conviction will all be tested in the flames.
