Yun Lian was adopted as a child by an elder of the Book Pavilion and grew up surrounded by ancient texts. A petal-shaped mark appears on her forehead only on nights of the full moon, and every time it flares up, she suffers unbearable pain. While sorting through ancient scroll fragments, she discovers a record of the divine artifact “Yao.” Legend says it can restore all things. Her master tells her that Yao was destroyed five hundred years ago because its power was too dangerous, but Yun Lian finds a mysterious clue hidden between the pages of an ancient book, suggesting that fragments of Yao still exist.
Hoping to heal her mark, Yun Lian sets out to find Yao, only to become entangled in a conspiracy that could overturn the Three Realms. She meets Su Heng, a High God of the Tianshu Hall who has been ordered to investigate the fragments. They go from wariness to growing affection. Zhaoli, a lively and cheerful disciple of the Medicine King Valley, and Yiming, the childhood friend and young master of the Jin Hun Valley, join their group. The aloof Jueyin and the gentle scholar Moyun also travel with them, each for their own reasons.
As the six search for Yao, they gradually discover that Yun Lian’s forehead mark is mysteriously connected to the artifact, and that the truth about what happened five hundred years ago is far more complicated than the records suggest. As the fragments of Yao are gathered one by one, they realize that this is about more than Yun Lian’s suffering: it also involves a secret that could overturn the Three Realms.
