The Third Impact did not end in Human Instrumentality. Instead, it hurled the world into an even stranger cycle. Shinji Ikari and Asuka Langley Soryu, two battle-scarred EVA pilots, awaken once more before it all began, carrying every memory and every trauma from the old world.
But this time, fate has already veered off course. The Angels no longer follow their established order or forms. They have become stronger, stranger, and deadlier, as if some unknown force were manipulating events behind the scenes. Shinji and Asuka struggle to survive their brutal battles, testing each other as they face both utterly transformed enemies and the old grudges and tangled feelings buried deep within them.
As trust is painstakingly rebuilt amid betrayal and sacrifice, and familiar companions leave and return in unfamiliar ways, they must overcome the shadows of the past and work together to uncover the terrible truth behind the Angels' mutations. In this endless cycle, they must find a way to truly end their fate. Otherwise, what awaits them is an annihilation even more complete than Instrumentality.
