The Boat Adrift

I thought I was playing the stand-in, but he turned out to be the real psychopath

The day the Gu family adopted me, my foster father pointed to his son in the hospital bed and said, “From now on, you’ll be Chenchen’s eyes.”

For ten years, I stayed by his side through rehabilitation, helped him run the company, and even stood in for him in a marriage alliance.

Until I heard a doctor ask outside his hospital room, “Mr. Gu’s eyes were already healed three years ago. Why pretend to be blind?”

He chuckled. “How else could I make her stay by my side willingly?”

I lowered my head, tore up my cancer diagnosis, and booked the soonest flight out of the country.
