During the Tianqi era, a meteor tore through the night sky and crashed into Yingtian Prefecture. Deep in the imperial prison, the Jinyiwei guard Lu Zhao watched a prisoner’s meridians shatter as he turned to stardust. Ordered to investigate the meteorite, Lu Zhao awakened a dormant star map within himself the moment he touched it. Yan Song's adopted son led the Eastern Depot in seizing the meteorite, while Japanese pirates slipped in and triggered a massive explosion. When Lu Zhao awoke, badly wounded, the meteorite's core was gone. All that remained was a metal fragment covered in strange runes. "This is the Calamity of Heavenly Craft," whispered a mysterious envoy of stellar energy. "The key lies in your bloodline." Currents churn beneath the capital. The Jinyiwei, the Eastern Depot, Japanese pirates, reclusive cultivators... The fragments coveted by all these factions turn out to be the key to opening the celestial firmament.
