Reborn as an Egg? My Snake Beauty Mother Is So Sweet
When I became conscious, the world around me was a warm, enveloping darkness.
I was surrounded by a soft, springy “shell.” In my ears, I could hear a steady “thump, thump,” like a drumbeat or the heartbeat of some creature, its rhythm strangely comforting. Even more amazing, I could clearly feel a gentle presence embracing me. It was as sweet and fresh as bamboo dew after rain, with a faint, cool fragrance that made me want to snuggle deeper into it.
“Baby’s so lively again today.”
A woman’s voice suddenly rang out, as soft as a feather brushing my heart. It was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard, unlike anything from my previous life. It wasn’t cloyingly sweet or cold and distant. Instead, it was like a clear mountain stream flowing over jade, each word warm and smooth. Every “cell” in my body seemed to leap with joy as I listened.
As her voice faded, I felt a warm hand gently settle against the outside of my “shell.” I could clearly feel her fingertips. Her hand was soft, with faint calluses on the pads of her fingers, probably left by years of gripping something. She stroked me gently, as if caressing a priceless treasure.
“Wait a little longer. Once Mother has cleared the miasma from this area, I’ll take you back to Wanzhu Cove. There’s the purest spring water there, and the mist lotuses your father planted. You’re sure to love them.”
Mother? Baby? Wanzhu Cove? Miasma?
