"The Diary of the White Dragon Horse" takes the little white dragon who was demoted as an eagle in Journey to the West as the protagonist. In the form of a first-person diary, it records his entire process from being forced to become the mount of Tang Monk to finally being awarded the title of Eight Heavenly Dragons.
The diary cleverly combines elements of fairy tales and workplace. Through Xiao Bailong's unique perspective, it humorously complains about the eighty-one difficulties on the way to seek Buddhist scriptures - the excessive compassion of the leader Tang Monk, the aggressiveness of his colleague Wukong, the gluttony and lust of Bajie, the strange operations of various gods and monsters, and his own sadness and growth as a "Buddhist laborer".
While restoring the classic plot, the book sharply deconstructs the bureaucracy and workplace survival rules of the Buddhist world in heaven. It is an excellent work by a Journey to the West fan that is both loyal to the original work and full of modern interest.
