Butcher's Blade and Sage's Books: A Poor Boy's Imperial Exams

Change fate and defy destiny: who says someone from the bottom can’t shine? My fate is mine to decide, not Heaven’s!

Lin Yan, a modern history student, transmigrates to the fictional Great Yong Dynasty after an accident, perhaps getting electrocuted while restoring an ancient book or encountering a strange disturbance involving a museum exhibit. He becomes Lin Ayan, the youngest son of the Lin family, butchers on the outskirts of Yanzhou City. Upon waking, he faces the original owner’s predicament: he was injured by an ox’s horns while helping his father slaughter cattle. Around him are the blood-soaked slaughterhouse, his haggard and worried mother, his taciturn butcher father, and their impoverished home, all giving him a visceral sense of the weight of the butcher’s knife and the life of the lower classes.
