The Wolf Imprisoned in the Azure Palace

Xiao Heng, the Qing dynasty’s Sixth Prince, is as cold as blood-tempered iron. He’s fiercely protective, yet insists on calling it “supervision.” Helian Shuo, a hostage prince from Beidi, wears pale robes and pretends to be docile, while the wolf-fang necklace around his neck hides the savagery of the grasslands.

When a blind bear charged at the hunting grounds, Xiao Heng took the blow for him. When the court tried to have him killed, Xiao Heng slammed his fist on the table with the Crown Prince, going so far as to nourish a life-linking venomous insect with his own blood. But the Crown Prince showed no mercy. Helian Shuo’s blood stained his wedding robes; their escape through a secret passage was thwarted, his hands shackled as the insect gnawed at his heart.

Their homelands stood like an uncrossable chasm, but they fought desperately to bridge it. In the end, Xiao Heng ascended the throne with not the imperial seal but Helian Shuo’s ashes held against his chest. The walls of Qingque Palace trapped the wolf of Beidi, and condemned the rest of Xiao Heng’s life as well. Tell me, is this love that lasts until death a salvation, or a death sentence?
