Lin Jin, a border defense soldier, died in the line of duty during a border clash. When he awoke, he had transmigrated to a world of cultivation and become a garrison soldier at the Great Wilderness frontier. Even stranger, a “Frontier Defense System” had bound itself to his mind. As long as he defended the border and slew invading enemies, he could grow stronger.
The System's very first mission was: “Find your missing wife: Mu Qingxue.” According to the clues, his wife was in the cultivation world thousands of miles away, and might even be the renowned, aloof “Liyue Sword Immortal” of the present day.
On one side lay the Great Wilderness frontier, beset by raging wars and demonic invasions. With modern tactics and the System's support, he accomplished one feat after another, becoming the “Flame Warden” feared by his enemies. On the other side stood an ethereal, distant immortal sect hidden among the clouds. Her sword heart was clear, but an unfinished karmic bond had stalled her cultivation. Forced to descend the mountain and enter the mortal world to slay demons, she had no idea that the “opportunity” she sought was the very garrison soldier stationed at the frontier.
When war flared up at the border once more and a hundred thousand demon soldiers bore down on it, she was ordered to come to their aid. In the midst of the army, she spotted that familiar figure at a glance. He smiled and asked, “Have we met before, miss?” The immortal sword in her hand hummed, and ripples spread across her heart lake. “Your sword feels familiar.”
