Siheyuan: I'm the Third Uncle, Yan Fugui

When he woke up, modern office worker Yan Lei discovered that he had been reborn as Yan Fugui, the Third Master from the TV series Love in the Courtyard, who would one day become a calculating miser. What was more, it was still before the founding of the People's Republic. He was young and had not yet married or had children.

With vivid memories of the original characters' fates and foresight into the changes the next few decades would bring, the newly reborn Yan Fugui was devastated. But his remarkable adaptability, along with the calculating instinct that seemed to have merged with his original self and grown even sharper, soon helped him regain his composure.

This was an era of upheaval, with change on the horizon. In a sprawling courtyard compound in the capital, neighbors had complicated relationships, and daily life was hard and full of petty troubles. Since he was here, he would make the best of it. He decided to use his knowledge of the future and the wisdom of his rebirth to carefully live a second life through these turbulent times.

From the ordinary bustle of life before the founding of the People's Republic to the daunting task of rebuilding the country afterward; from finding a suitable partner and starting a family to navigating his way among all kinds of neighbors, from teachers to workers; from carefully managing the household budget to protecting his family amid the era's turbulent tides… He was Yan Fugui, the Third Master of the courtyard compound. He would live more wisely and comfortably, and bring a little more variety to life in the compound. This is the story of an ordinary man who uses his foresight to navigate life, protect his family, and witness the changes of an era.
