Xie Ci’ai was born in a poor village. After being framed by someone from his own village and nearly kidnapped, he was saved by Cheng Yici, the sect’s youngest cultivation prodigy.
Years later, Xie Ci’ai has grown up and falls in love with Cheng Yici at first sight. But Cheng Yici believes Xie Ci’ai’s feelings are merely dependence, not true love. And since their first time together was not mutually desired, each becomes even more convinced that the other does not love them.
The Divine Emperor Dan Xi dotes on Jin Munu, who is in love with His Majesty. They maintain their lord-and-subject relationship for ten thousand years. At last, Jin Munu can no longer hold back and confesses to the Divine Emperor, only to be demoted.
Jin Munu descends to the mortal realm and is reborn as Xie Ci’ai, while the Divine Emperor is reborn as Cheng Yici. They are given another chance at love. This time, they set out on a journey with their companions to discover why the demonic path is wreaking havoc, find its leader, clear every obstacle in their way, and repel the invasion of demonic cultivators, bringing peace back to Floating Mayfly Continent.
Beyond Floating Mayfly Continent lies a much wider world. As fate draws them onward, they gradually begin to remember their lives in Heaven. Before long, Jin Munu finds himself standing against the Divine Emperor. He wants to destroy the order the Divine Emperor established.
Their friend is framed and sent down to the mortal realm with an incomplete soul, while Heaven undergoes reform... Xie Ci’ai gradually remembers everything that happened in Heaven. It all began because a god’s greed knew no bounds, and he used schemes and deceit to frame others.
They go from lord and subject to adversaries, then from adversaries to allies. They endure separation, war in the mortal world, and the eight sufferings of life, until at last they understand...
