Starting Over, I Respect His Love

My husband resented being forced into an arranged marriage. On his way to run away with the woman he loved, he was in a car accident that left both his legs crippled. I caught up and rescued him, stayed by his side without complaint, and cared for him devotedly for the rest of his life. We also raised three children together. I thought we would live out our days in peace, but I never expected my husband to resent me all his life. In our old age, he even brought his beloved home to live with us:

“If you hadn't meddled back then, Xiaoyan would have come to save me. You ruined my love, and I never want to see you again!”

All three of our children urged me to move into a nursing home and give up the house for her:

“Mom, Dad loved you all his life. You should be content.”

“You still have us. Auntie Qi has no children, and people will bully her in a nursing home.”

“Dad doesn't have much time left. Just let him have this.”

I had no choice. They threw me into a nursing home, where I was left all alone.

Meanwhile, they squandered my pension and lived together in perfect harmony.

I was so furious that I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and was left paralyzed in bed. I couldn't escape the flood and drowned.

When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day my husband went chasing after love.

If not being with his first love was his lifelong regret, then this time, I'd help him make it happen.
