The Flames of War: A Strategist’s Chronicle

In 1934, Jiang Haoran, who had transmigrated from another time, put down roots in Nanjing. As Japanese forces tightened their surveillance and infiltration, he wielded modern military knowledge like a blade, weaving a network of city defenses amid the turmoil. He used supply purchases to evade enemy eyes, military exercises to conceal real stockpiles, and mock streets to train for urban combat. He also joined forces with merchant Xu Shiming, student Li Enyu, and others to establish commercial intelligence channels, devise codes and ciphers, and hide food and medicine in cave warehouses. From thwarting a crisis involving spies from rival factions within his own ranks to leading soldiers and civilians in coordinated resistance, Jiang Haoran, the group’s “mastermind,” united ordinary people and passionate soldiers into one force. Across the Jianghuai region, he wrote a tale of resistance against overwhelming odds and the defense of homeland and country.
