On the Road to the Greater Khingan Range

[Two male leads + road trip + first person + bittersweet + happy ending] A nurturing, caring top and a gentle, bright, and warm bottom I don’t know why, but winter seemed as if it would never come. That’s right, winter arrived very, very late that year. Autumn went on too long, far too long. It felt like it would never end. The days dragged by, neither painful nor dramatic, just wearing me down. In that endless autumn light, I met someone. A young man with fair skin and a weariness between his brows that he couldn’t shake. Later, I learned his name was Huai Zhun. Strangely, I knew at first sight that we were alike. We were both people on our way to meet death, resolute and without hesitation. My goal was to die before I turned thirty. My destination was the Greater Khingan Range. That memory was etched into my elementary school textbook. The title, “Beautiful Greater Khingan Range,” sat beside a richly colored illustration, becoming my first and last image of a distant place. I told myself I would go and see it. Just once would be enough. But in my twenty-ninth year, I met that person. The person who would appear in my dreams countless times afterward. After that, everything changed. “Hey, hey.” I heard him call out to me like that, but I didn’t turn around. So saying goodbye really is hard. P.S. This is a very quiet novel with hardly any plot. It’s mostly about two people traveling, admiring the scenery, and experiencing life, with everyday moments making up almost the entire story. A bedtime read. The full novel is already written. I hope you enjoy it!
