The heroine, Su Qing, is young, beautiful, clever, and ambitious, but gradually loses her way. She may have lofty aspirations at first, but she sinks into the power her brother wields and the easy benefits it brings. The story exposes the corruption behind rocket-fast promotions backed by powerful connections, shows how desire can consume humanity, and delivers justice in the end as the law takes its course.
