Shi Nodded

"Shi Nodou" is a collection of novels written in Ming Dynasty, written by Ziran Chisou. It has a total of fourteen volumes and twelve chapters are preserved today. This book is named after the allusion in Feng Menglong's preface that "the old man speaks, and the stubborn stone nods". It aims to deduce cause and effect, encourage good and punish evil, and promote ethics and morality through secular stories. The stories in the book mostly revolve around family ethics and world conditions, with twists and turns in the plot, vivid language, and a distinctive color of persuasion and realistic style. The content of this book covers themes such as the recognition of father and son, the relationship between husband and wife, the observance of moral integrity and seeking relatives, and the ethics of filial piety. The author is good at portraying the psychology of characters, with delicate narrative and complete structure. It is one of the representative works of short stories in the Ming Dynasty in vernacular, and has high literary value and historical research significance.
