A story of emotional healing set against current social issues. Lin Wei, a top lawyer who graduated with a law degree from a prestigious university, has witnessed the good and evil in human nature through her cases. She finds peace in Buddhist, Legalist, and Daoist thought, then starts a public account to share her reflections and help others heal. When Chen Mo, a middle-school teacher, reads her posts, he feels as if their souls recognize each other. The food he cooks tastes like “the flavors of the past,” the clothes he puts together suit her perfectly, and his comments strike a chord in her heart. Chen Mo’s wife, Su Qing, is intelligent and beautiful, but they are out of sync on a deeper level, and he becomes consumed by his love for Lin Wei. Having been hurt before, Lin Wei has grown disillusioned with love and is now married to Zhou Mingyu, a provider who treats her exceptionally well. When Chen Mo confesses his feelings, she urges him to return to his marriage, telling him that “love is a passing illusion.” But Chen Mo’s love is pure and steadfast, and he quietly stays by her side. Lin Wei is eventually moved and crosses the line. She then struggles between the Buddhist ideal of “restraint” and the urge to “pursue” love, before finally facing her true feelings and finding happiness with Chen Mo.
