The Human Race Is Destined to Rise, Says I, Tianpeng

Zhu Bajie, the Heavenly Court's Altar-Cleansing Envoy, learns a terrible secret at the Thunderclap Monastery on Vulture Peak: his senior brother Wukong has fallen. He angrily confronts the Buddha, only to be struck down by divine thunder. When he opens his eyes again, he has been reborn in the time after the Calamity of Investiture, before the Journey to the West has begun, and is once more in command of the Heavenly River Army!

This time, he is no longer the lazy, lecherous Marshal Tianpeng. The truth of the schemes of Buddhism and Daoism, humanity's decline, Jin Chan's ten lives under someone else's control, and his closest friend's fate as a pawn burns into his soul. He secretly sets his plans in motion: making amends for past regrets at the Guanghan Palace, seizing Jin Chan's true spirit in the depths of reincarnation, joining forces with the ancient primordial clans to plot a comeback, and using his knowledge of the future to stir up the Three Realms!

“The Journey to the West? A pilgrimage for scriptures? The rise of Buddhism?” Bajie raises his battle-axe to the heavens, his cold laugh thundering through the skies. “This time, your old friend Pig is fighting for ten thousand generations of peace for humanity! Buddhas of Vulture Peak, listen well: humanity will rise, and I, Tianpeng, say so!”
