[System] + [Workplace Satire] + [Dad] + [Laid-Back Big Shot] + [Team Management] + [Ensemble Cast]
A good-for-nothing (or so he pretends) in his prime, he wants to lie flat. Reluctantly, he saves the world by developing a Investiture of the Gods System, appointing everyone as immortals, then matching wits with false gods, deities, and apostles. This is an ensemble story about protecting Huaxia, though the protagonist is still Qu Yan.
Qu Yan, an internet company’s design director, gets laid off and loses everything in the stock market. At least his wife and kids don’t hold it against him (he’s made plenty of contributions to the family, after all). So he takes up fishing and lies flat, enjoying the peace and quiet.
That is, until the day he saves an old man with white hair dressed in ancient robes, only to discover that he’s Jiang Ziya, the sole surviving god of Huaxia!
The old man forces a divine power onto him and hands him the Investiture of the Gods, explaining that Huaxia’s gods have scattered, monsters are running rampant within the barrier, and the city of Shenqi is in danger. The task of saving the world is now his.
This old geezer is even harsher than a company executive. He dumps all this on me without warning? And then expects me to wear a big hat, too?
I can only take things as they come, but trouble keeps finding its way to my door...
So I have no choice but to open the Investiture of the Gods and use my smarts to recruit divine employees ( ), then draw on my experience managing people at major internet companies to manipulate them (no, I mean manage them).
What happens when you apply modern methods like OKRs, KPIs, and team incentives to gods?
But I understand: when Heaven assigns a great task to someone, there’s no escaping it. When enemies invade, when anomalies and supernatural abilities become part of everyday life, and when gods from other worlds descend, how can I stand aside when my wife and children are at stake?
People exclaim, “Qu Yan’s company is the hope of humanity’s future, the stronghold of Huaxia’s gods, and the cornerstone of Shenqi City.”
Qu Yan: “I just want to save the world and go back to lying fla...”
