Introduction to the work "The Story of Green Glaze"
"Celadon Chronicles" takes the millennium celadon culture as the context and tells the story of celadon restorer Su Yan and ancient kiln researcher Shen Zhiyuan, who became connected through a fragment of a Ru kiln from the Song Dynasty and jointly protected the inheritance of celadon skills and culture.
Su Yan comes from a family of celadon restorers. He can discern the glaze texture with his fingertips and warm the cracks of broken porcelain with his palms. He has been guarding the restoration studio in his old house in Jiangnan all year round, using ancient techniques to repair celadon remnants scattered among the people. By chance, in order to restore a Song Dynasty official kiln plum vase, she needed to find matching Ru kiln fragments for reference, and thus met Shen Zhiyuan, who focused on the excavation and research of ancient kiln sites. Shen Zhiyuan happens to have a fragment of a Ru kiln with the inscription "Fenghua" in his hand. This fragment is not only the key to repairing the plum vase, but also contains the unsaid past of his grandfather, an old craftsman who participated in the protection of the ancient kiln but died unjustly.
The two got to know each other because of celadon. From their initial slight differences on the concept of restoration, they gradually reached a tacit understanding in their insistence on "restoring the old as before". Su Yan took Shen Zhiyuan to visit a time-honored porcelain shop in the south of the Yangtze River to identify the differences in glaze color at different kiln mouths; Shen Zhiyuan took Su Yan to go deep into the ancient kiln ruins to interpret the remaining traces of kiln fire in the soil. They pieced together the history from the fragments of celadon, understood the craftsmanship from the changes in glaze color in the kiln, and their feelings slowly grew with the clay and glaze in their hands.
However, the crisis came quietly. Real estate developers want to develop the land around the ancient kiln ruins and plan to tear down the century-old porcelain mill and build a commercial complex; at the same time, foreign collectors are coveting the Song Dynasty plum vase that Su Yan is restoring at a high price, secretly exerting pressure and trying to export the cultural relics. In order to protect the ancient kiln and celadon, Su Yan relied on his family
