Before the disaster, social classes were solidified and resources were monopolized by large companies. The protagonist Lin Xia was one of the "code beasts" at the bottom. On June 15, 2125, an unprecedented super solar flare (the "Judgment Day" event) broke out, destroying the global power grid and satellites. Intense radiation and high-energy particles polluted the earth's surface, causing 99% of crop genes to collapse and become extinct, and the world fell into famine, turmoil, and barbaric anarchy. Radiation has given rise to horrific mutations in animals and plants (radiated beasts) and the awakening of supernatural powers in a few humans (awakened ones).
