The earth was suddenly swept by a "tide of psionic energy", and most of the human race mutated into "dark puppets" that only retained instincts and devoured emotions. Among the survivors, a very small number of people have mutated the pineal gland in their brains due to special genes or opportunities, and have become "resonators" who can absorb and utilize the emotional power around them (joy, anger, sadness, fear, love, hatred, madness...). Emotions have become the new "energy" and "currency" in the apocalypse. The protagonist is accidentally entangled by a strange parasite that feeds on "despair" and is forced to embark on the path of constantly creating and absorbing extreme emotions, thereby evolving and becoming stronger.
