University military training is about to begin. When my roommate Chen Li finds out I’m exempt, she points at me and launches into a tirade.
“You’re not missing any arms or legs, so why don’t you have to train? I refuse to accept this!”
“You love playing the coward so much, I bet you’re a spy sent by another country!”
The official list of military training instructors hasn’t been finalized yet. The leadership told me to keep a low profile.
So I didn’t argue with her.
But she only got worse. She started calling me a “coward” behind my back and even stole the medicated ointment for bruises and sprains that I’d left on my desk.
“What kind of garbage medicine is this? You can’t even buy it anywhere.”
Right in front of me, she tossed the ointment into the trash.
I slapped her.
She started crying and threatened to call the police.
“So what if I used your medicine? Did you really have to slap me? Let me tell you, the cost of repairing my face is more than all ten bottles of your medicine are worth.”
I took out my phone and called the police.
“Fine, then let the police”
