I Guarded the Tomb for Ten Years, but My Family Forgot All About Me

Our family has a tradition: every hundred years, we draw lots to choose someone to guard the family tomb. Unwilling to let my father, who was in the final stages of lung cancer, take the watch, I volunteered to go in his place. Ten years later, I returned home and found a young man and woman there. My mother held the girl in her arms and introduced her. "I missed you so much while you were guarding the tomb, so I had Yuanyuan keep me company in your place. From now on, you must treat her like your own little sister." The young man who was my younger brother threw my luggage out on the spot and roared furiously, "I don’t want her as my sister! Some wild girl from who knows where, and she thinks she can steal the love that belongs to Sister Yuanyuan!" I raised an eyebrow and glanced at my father. His face was glowing, though he had been in the final stages of lung cancer. "Since Yanqiu doesn’t like it, Xinxin, why don’t you come back in a couple of days?" The words I’d been about to say died on my lips. There was no point telling a dying man about the wager over the family tomb.
