Reborn, I Leave the Divine Sword Behind and Walk Away

My Master bestowed two divine swords upon us and let my senior brother and me choose.

One sword roared like a dragon, its blade light soaring into the sky. The moment it saw my senior brother, it instantly coiled around his wrist and accepted him as its master.

The other was covered in rust and utterly devoid of spiritual light. It was knocked away by the sword qi and lay all alone on the ground.

I felt sorry for it, so I quietly picked it up and spent every day and night nourishing and polishing it with spiritual energy.

My senior brother’s sword spirit took human form in its very first year. It was valiant and extraordinary, helping him sweep aside all his peers.

I alone stayed by that rusty sword, spending countless rare treasures on it while making painfully slow progress in my cultivation.

My fellow disciples all urged me to give up on that piece of “worthless scrap metal” and find myself a better sword.

But I didn’t care. I held the rusty sword in my arms and said:

“It’s all right. If you don’t awaken today, I’ll nourish you for one more day. Where the sword goes, so will I.”

But when the demon clan attacked, the rusty sword suddenly awoke. Demonic qi surged skyward as it transformed into a world-ending giant blade.

I used up all my spiritual energy trying to climb onto its spine and escape.
