Jiang Lingyuan, a descendant of the Maoshan Taoist sect, was caught in a bloody rebellion at his twentieth-year ordination ceremony, when his senior apprentice brother colluded with the top-tier heretical cult, the Corpse-Worship Sect. To protect his sect, Jiang Lingyuan burned through his Daoist foundation and forcibly wielded a forbidden art. Though he ultimately slew his powerful foe, the dying leader of the Corpse-Worship Sect planted a “Deathless Bone” curse in him using his own primordial essence, leaving Jiang with little time to live. In hopes of finding a slim chance of survival, his grandfather, the sect leader, used supreme Taoist arts to set up the “Seven-Star Hanging Coffin Life-Extension” ritual. He ordered Jiang to practice the “Yin-Yang Occult Arts,” long forbidden by Maoshan, using poison to fight poison and reshape his fate. From then on, Jiang Lingyuan became an “Occult Arts Wanderer,” walking in the shadows of the city. Every five years, he must return to Maoshan with enough “Yin-Yang Primordial Essence” to enter the hanging coffin and extend his life. Thus begins a difficult journey to stay alive and uncover the greater secrets behind the traitor and the Corpse-Worship Sect.
