From the 1980s to the eve of Hong Kong's return in 1997, it focuses on the Kowloon Walled City and the golden age of gangs where chaos and opportunities coexist. Lin Yaodong, a poor young man from the bottom of the city, was forced to enter the world to save his seriously ill sister Xiaohui. From a "rat boy" who was bullied by others, he rose to the top of the Hongxing Society with his forbearance, ruthlessness and extraordinary intelligence, and finally became the all-powerful hero of Hong Kong. He deals with internal strife in the club (Liang Kun), strong external enemies (Dongxing Camel), and police pursuits (Inspector Huang Zhicheng). He struggles with power, money, friendship (brother Chen Haonan, lover May) and family love (sister Xiao Hui).
