The story spans two time and spaces, the Republic of China and modern times. In 1925 of the Republic of China, Shen Mochuan, as the last descendant of the "Painter of Time and Space", was an antique dealer in Shanghai, secretly investigating the serial murder case of "Mo Pavilion" using ancient paintings to wash away souls. In modern times, Ruan Zhiwei is an expert in the appraisal of ancient calligraphy and paintings. He has the ability to "see paintings and remember" due to a fire in his childhood, but he is often troubled by migraines. A constantly self-repairing "Galaxy Heron" connects the fate of the two people. When Ruan Zhiwei restores the painting, it will change the history of Shen Mochuan's era.
As the investigation deepens, Shen Mochuan discovers that the "Mo Pavilion" conspiracy is related to the secrets of time and space. Ruan Zhiwei's museum collections have collectively "mutated" and the restorers have forgotten Shen Mochuan. All this is related to the manipulation of "Mo Pavilion" behind the scenes. The two got to know each other and fell in love through communication across time and space. However, they gradually discovered that each other was actually the previous space-time painter on the same timeline. Falling in love would cause a time-space paradox.
Under tight time pressure and faced with numerous obstacles from "Mo Pavilion", Shen Mochuan and Ruan Zhiwei had to solve the puzzle and stop the "Mo Pavilion" conspiracy, while at the same time facing the difficult choice between love and the order of time and space. In the end, they successfully cracked the "Mo Pavilion" conspiracy, but had to choose to forget each other in order to maintain the order of time and space.
