In the giant floating city of New Hela, memories are commodities that can be extracted, traded, and deleted. Lin Zhou, a top Memrise master, was in the business of sneaking into other people's memories to mine information, until during a mission, he was infected by a "ghost echo" that did not belong to anyone.
This ghostly memory led him to the mysterious white-haired girl "Zero" and a conspiracy that could subvert human civilization - the "Chimera Project."
