The Green-Robed Casebook: Investigating Meiyang Together

Synopsis of The Green Robe Records of Redress: Partners in Meiyang

In the middle years of the Great Jing Dynasty, Yangzhou's misty rain shrouds one bizarre murder after another. Young women are dying suddenly, one after another, and each death is linked to a box of rouge from the Zuichunfang cosmetics shop.

Wei Muyang, a physician who keeps a low profile among the common folk, is a master of both medicine and poison and possesses the remarkable Cloudstream Nine Forms. He seems to have retreated from the world to practice medicine, but in truth, he is lying low to clear his family's name in an old case of treason and poisoning. Ye Qingmei, daughter of a former Yangzhou judicial commissioner, carries the case files her father left behind as she investigates, vowing to uncover the truth behind his supposed death by falling into a well. By chance, she discovers a hidden connection between the rouge murders and her father's old case.

One examines corpses with medical knowledge and pursues killers with light-footed agility; the other relies on logical deduction and the law to right wrongs. From testing one another's intentions to joining forces to unravel the mysteries, they tackle cases ranging from a children's rhyme that foretells death at a canal wharf, to a shadow-puppet murder in a narrow Beijing alley, to a poisoned-wine plot within the palace walls. Every case is entangled with corruption among the salt merchants and factional conflict at court.

As they investigate, Wei Muyang's restraint and fiery spirit break through Ye Qingmei's solitary courage and defenses, and affection slowly blossoms amid flashing blades and scattered clues. Bridging the gap between their stations, they wield the truth as a blade and their original convictions as a shield. In a haze of tangled ambition, they clear the names of the wronged and find redemption in each other, composing a passionate tale of romance and crime-solving between the ancient martial world and the imperial court.
