Introduction to The Two Sages of Chaos
Before chaos was divided, Yuanchu awoke from the primordial womb of chaos and met Pangu in the desolate primordial void. One wished to split chaos with a great axe and establish order among all laws; the other was willing to give his life to protect that great ambition. The two lonely souls became brothers and swore an oath amid the boundless chaos: “We shall live and prove the Dao together.”
At a primordial point in the void, Yuanchu obtained the Chaos Treasure, the Primordial Pearl, and helped Pangu temper the axe that would split the heavens. As Pangu opened heaven and earth and his body disintegrated, he entrusted the newborn Primordial World to Yuanchu: “Protect this world. Do not let it return to chaos.”
Entrusted with this duty, Yuanchu used the Primordial Pearl to mend the cracks in heaven and earth and erected boundary stones to hold back the chaos. At the dawn of the Primordial World, he established the iron rule that “the strong may prey on the weak, but must not damage the foundations.” He persuaded the Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin clans to make peace, preventing the slaughter of countless lives; advised the Three Pure Ones that “different paths can still work together,” eradicating the roots of their internal strife; and infused Nuwa's creation of humanity with the life force of chaos, granting humankind an innate gift for creation. When Demon Gods from beyond the world came to attack, he even burned his own essence to protect the Primordial World.
He was always a guardian, never a ruler. When the beings of the Primordial World could shoulder the duty of protecting it themselves, Yuanchu finally transformed into its laws, becoming one with the mountains, rivers, and stars formed from Pangu.
This is a bond forged in chaos and remembered through the ages, a new tale of the Primordial World woven from promises and legacy. Though the Two Sages are gone, their will endures. The legend of “Pangu opening the heavens and the Primordial Lord guarding the boundaries” will be passed down among all races for eternity.
