In a corner of the bustling city, Wang Xiaoke turned off the computer in his cubicle where he worked nine to five, used his savings accumulated over the years to buy an old shop, and hung up the wooden signboard of "Sweet House" with his own hands. From kneading dough and adjusting icing in the early morning, to receiving regular customers in the afternoon and listening to their stories about daily life, she pieced together her ideal life bit by bit in the warmth of the oven and the sweet smell of desserts.
Chen Chen, the owner of the bookstore next door, is a frequent customer of "Sweet House". He always comes to buy a piece of tiramisu in the evening. Sometimes he helps customers who forget to bring change to pay in advance, and sometimes he silently cleans up the menus that have been messed up by the wind. At first they were just acquaintances, until one rainstorm night, Wang Xiaoke was trapped halfway, and it was Chen Chen who helped her look after the store in the rain; when she was frustrated in developing new products, it was Chen Chen who gave her inspiration with an old cookbook.
There is no vigorous dramatic conflict, only the delicate melting of butter, the patience of dough fermentation, and the story of two people who live a serious life in the city, bonded over a dessert shop, and slowly get closer in the trivialities and warmth of daily life. There are desserts here that are sweet to the bottom of your heart, as well as gentle comfort hidden in the smoke of fireworks.
