None of Them Are Good People

Hong Youyi's father, Hong Xiubin, had liver cancer. He and Hong Youyi's mother, Huang Chunhua, had spent their lives mocking other people's illnesses, so they were terrified of being laughed at themselves. They did everything they could to hide the diagnosis, but it came to light when the workplace union paid a visit. Honest and guileless, Hong Youyi didn't care about the several properties his father owned. But his biological mother, Liang Min, quickly sensed that this was about more than money. It was also about whether the Hong family truly accepted Hong Youyi as their own son. She made him see that his father and grandmother, though seemingly affectionate, had spent years emotionally manipulating and exploiting him with sweet words. They had also kept him completely in the dark about their best property in Liupanshui, an apartment in the Hongda residential complex, and all their other assets. At Liang Min's urging, Hong Youyi cautiously questioned them. As expected, his stepmother and grandmother lied and dodged his questions. Then, after he refused to pay the exorbitant cost of a liver transplant, his father anonymously reported him. The veil of family affection was torn away for good. Hong Youyi came to his senses and, with a lawyer's help, began investigating and fighting back, uncovering layer upon layer of schemes and old plots to drive people apart. In the end, Hong Xiubin passed away, and everything was settled. The property dispute was resolved through a cold legal agreement, and Hong Youyi finally cut ties with his grandmother and the rest of that fake, unfeeling family. He resolved to protect the truly warm home he had built with his wife and daughter.
