The Taste of Zhenguan

One day, five-star chef Lin Tian transmigrates into the Tang Dynasty, during the Zhenguan era, only to become a hapless apprentice on the brink of death at a restaurant in the western market? Faced with sour porridge, rotten vegetables, a bullying creditor, and a ramshackle kitchen without even a wok, Lin Tian weighs the dull cleaver in his hand. It’s time to show the people of the Tang Dynasty what a “dimensionality-reducing strike” looks like!

From a bowl of “Five-Flavored Stew” whose aroma fills an entire street to saving the day at an imperial banquet, the fragrance of his cooking wafts through Chang’an. Cheng Yaojin pounds on his door demanding another serving, Wei Zheng takes a bite and cries, “Now that’s delicious!” and even Li Shimin secretly sends eunuchs to pack some up!

But danger follows close behind: jealous rivals frame him, mysterious forces poison his food in secret, and powerful court officials offer him olive branches (or butcher knives)...

Lin Tian grins as he weighs his ladle. “We can talk with the doors wide open. If it’s a fight you want, I’m game!”

See how a modern culinary god stirs up the Tang Dynasty with a single iron wok and cooks up the greatest banquet in history!
