Aloof movie emperor × clear-headed beauty

Third-rate nobody Xia Youyou’s company arranges for her to fake a couple pairing with top-tier movie emperor Lu Xingchi.

On the day they sign the contract, he hands her an addendum and says coolly:

“One more clause: if you dare fall for me, you’ll owe three hundred million.”

Her manager smiles obsequiously. “Don’t worry, Mr. Lu. Youyou knows her place.”

Later, the two put on a sweet show for the cameras, their flirty interactions sending pink bubbles everywhere.

They attract a large following of couple shippers, who are completely hooked, but the criticism and abuse are even louder:

“A nobody thinks she can ride God Lu’s coattails?”

“Just wait, they’ll split up in three months. This woman will definitely demand more screen time!”

The hashtag #YouCantForceLove# trends for a whole week.

Xia Youyou keeps the exorbitant penalty clause in mind and plays the role of the “most professional” colleague to perfection.

Until, at the wrap party, Lu Xingchi suddenly drags her into the stairwell.

In the dark, his breath is scorching. “Avoiding me?”

She waves her phone, opening a recording she saved on it. “Mr. Lu, I can’t afford to pay three hundred million.”

After the “show” is over, she takes the initiative and asks to end their fake pairing.

That night, Lu Xingchi knocks on her apartment door and throws down a check, his eyes bloodshot:

“I’ll pay the penalty.”

“Just try liking someone else.”

Later, during a variety show livestream, the host asks, “Mr. Lu, who did you write your latest single, ‘Three Hundred Million,’ for?”

The camera pans to the audience: Xia Youyou is whispering and laughing with a popular young top-tier star.

The whole venue erupts in shocked cries!

Lu Xingchi scoops Xia Youyou up in front of everyone and carries her out. His voice rumbles like thunder:

“Come home. I’ll teach you all about loopholes in exemption clauses!”
