During the Tang dynasty under Wu Zhou rule, a “Phoenix Calamity” spanning a thousand years descended in secret. Legend had it that the ancient “Heavenly Phoenix” reincarnated every three hundred years and had to be offered three “Fire Phoenix Vessels” as sacrifices, or heavenly flames would consume the world. This time, Wu Zetian, Princess Taiping, and the Western Regions’ saintess Yue Yin had all become the chosen vessels of fate…
While investigating the bizarre case of a Ministry of Rites vice minister burned to death, the great detective Di Renjie stumbled into a plot by the Mystic Fire Cult to restore its power. As he delved deeper into the case, he discovered that his involvement was no accident: he was the reincarnation of a “Fire Official” from the Taizong era, charged with severing a thousand years of karmic ties. From secret cases in Luoyang to sacred halls in the Western Regions, from imperial tombs to a city consumed by heavenly fire, Di Renjie must find the key to breaking the calamity amid political intrigue, mysterious flames, and fate.
