Synopsis

[Transmigrating into a book to survive] After staying up all night to finish a melodramatic xianxia novel, I never imagined that the next moment I’d transmigrate into the book as Chu Jingchen, the ultimate villain who had nothing going for him except his face.

To make matters worse, the System I was bound to forced me to stick to the original character: act aloof and sharp-tongued, and threaten to kill the male lead, Shen Qingci. If I went out of character, I’d get an electric shock warning, and once my points ran out, I’d be erased.

Looking at this devastatingly handsome face in the bronze mirror, then remembering how the original ended up with his meridians crippled by Shen Qingci and tossed to the wild dogs, I had an epiphany: I had to keep up the act, no matter what.

On the surface, I was the high-and-mighty scumbag of a senior brother at Lingyun Sect, always bullying and beating up my junior brother. Behind the scenes, I was frantically “laying the groundwork” for Shen Qingci’s rise: he needed a secret manual? I’d “accidentally” drop a forbidden sect technique along his path. He was in danger? I’d “happen” to pass by and “take care of” a few small-time thugs.

But the longer I played my part, the more things started to go wrong.

Why was the fated hero, who should have hated me to the bone, looking at me more and more strangely?

One by one, the holes left open in the original story began to surface. Could the real reason the original character targeted Shen Qingci be hiding a shocking secret?

Help, I only wanted to scrape by until the ending. How did I end up as the male lead’s “white moonlight” (supposedly) and his “thorn in the eye” (for real)?

System! This isn’t how the story goes!

No heroine, and the protagonist isn't a goody-goody. The supporting cast keeps thinking he's incredibly powerful, as if he had cheat codes, when in reality he's totally useless.
