When the universe's balancing mechanism becomes a black mist that devours all, when the hope-bearing petals of the divine tree are destined to bear the fruit of despair, when the destruction of every civilization has long been written into the stars' script...
Will you still raise your sword in defiance?
Kai was once the lowliest starlost soul in Viridia, until Saintess Aira saved him at the cost of five years of her life, leaving an unfading petal-shaped mark on his forehead. He thought joining the guard was the beginning of his redemption, but on the day the black mist descended, the person he trusted most sent him away through a teleportation array. Only when the divine tree's white blossoms fell did he understand: "hope" was nothing but bait, luring survivors into witnessing destruction.
Exiled among the stars, he tore through space in search of the truth, only to discover an even crueler reality: the black mist was the universe's cleaner, and the divine tree he had sworn to protect was itself the black mist's "source of energy." His former comrades had become puppets of the black mist. Saintess Aira had struck a deal with the Destroyer, trading the bones of countless civilizations for one more day of life for the New Green Valley he protected.
When every act of resistance becomes a futile struggle written into the script, when the "inevitable destruction" hangs over him, Kai holds a fragment of the laws of space and looks at the lights of New Green Valley and the faces of the Alliance's many races. At last, he understands:
Fate is not something to be accepted.
Even if he must perish alongside the black mist, he will tear a crack for the sake of "living" in the universe's script.
"Aira, you say the ending was decided long ago? Then I'll make sure that ending remembers my name."
