"Huangsha Radio"
Era: 1959-1962 Jiuquan Desert, Gansu
Setting: The female protagonist is a blind telegraph operator who was exiled to the "no man's land" measurement and control base; the male protagonist is a Dai Zui rocket engineer who suffers from PTSD.
Cruel points: Due to extreme water shortage and wind and sand burying the equipment, the two could only "talk" to each other by tapping on abandoned oil pipes to send telegraphs; a storm blew over the last half of the bucket of water, and the heroine's hope of briefly regaining her sight was dashed.
Cool points: The heroine used Morse rhythm to compose the rocket formula into a "code song" and won the "Music" championship in the military communication competition; the hero used her rhythm to correct the ballistic error, and China's first test bomb was successful. On the day the two were pardoned, the heroine used the same song to broadcast to the entire base: "We heard the echo in the sky."
