Doing Scientific Research in the Song Dynasty

Unemployed right after graduation, he feels a "sea breeze" in the drawer of his suburban rental. Behind it lies Houting in the Northern Song dynasty. No golden finger, just blueprints, formulas, and a stubborn mouth.

He launches the "Transmigrate to the Song Project" in his class group chat. More than a dozen engineering students bring measuring tools, glassware, medicine, seeds, hand-cranked machine tools, copper wire, and battery materials to plunge into another era:

Standardization -> machine tools -> lead-chamber sulfuric acid -> steam engines -> rolling mills -> gas lamps -> telegraph lines. From workshops to factories, from county towns to ports.

Guilds try to wipe them out? They establish apprentice schools and ramp up production. The Salt and Iron Bureau blocks their way? They trade military procurement and tax revenue for policy support.

They don't worship the golden finger. They become the golden finger themselves.

Competition in our society is fierce, but what if we were set down a thousand years ago?
