But on Xu Yungui, it's nothing but physical torment. The Demon Venerable lifts a finger, and his senses really do melt away like a puddle of water under a flame.

So, blind once more, he sets out to kill the Demon Venerable, and along the way picks up a sickly, scheming disciple.
Master and disciple travel together, slaying demons and monsters, until at last they reach the Demon Venerable's lair.
Before Xu Yungui can even strike a pose and make a grand entrance, his little disciple chuckles and wraps his arms around Xu Yungui's waist from behind, then gently traces words into his palm with a fingertip:
"Can you really bear to kill me and prove your Dao?"
That night, the Hall of Lingering Regrets was ablaze with light, and Xu Yungui's sword was barely three inches from the Demon Venerable's heart.
"To hell with this. I'm done playing your game!"
Xu Yungui had long since become deaf as well as blind. He hadn't spoken in ages, and he didn't know if the last words he uttered before killing himself had come out clearly. After living two lifetimes, he was still blind when he died.
